Children of Grace Meet: M. Kavitha Date of Birth: July 12, 1991 Kavitha lost her father to the war while still an infant, and her mother to illness in 2001. An aunt brought her to Grace Home in 2003, and her few remaining family members were last known to be in Mullaitivu, the district north of Trincomalee that has been the recent battleground in the civil war. Profile in Dignity Meet: Poonaiya Muthulingam Mr. Kitnan was unable to continue working as a farmer, due to heart disease and asthma, when he joined the Mercy Home family. No longer married, he and his children left Batticaloa after the 2006 combat actions in Muthur, south of the bay from Trincomalee. Learn More |

| Tragedy hits close to Grace Home Included in the tragedies of last month’s battles in the northeastern Mullaitivu district was a personal loss for Rev. J. Gnanapragasam, Grace Care Center manager. While “Rev. Gnana,” as he’s known to Grace visitors, was at Trincomalee General Hospital helping those wounded in the battles, his brother and sister in law were among the civilians who were killed in the conflict zone, about 40 miles north of Trinco.
