Mercy Home Resident Mr. Chandradasa (aka "Mr. Gandhi") in the Hospital

1.JPG

We are saddened to report that Mercy Home resident Mr. S. Chandradasa, known affectionately to many staff and volunteers as "Mr. Gandhi," has been taken to the hospital in Trincomalee. Diane McLaughlin, the Grace Care Center Manager, sent the following report this morning about his condition: "[O]ur hero Gandhi-Uncle is back in the hospital as of Tuesday morning (shortness of breath, weakness) and was discovered today to have a blood clot in his leg. Doctors are discussing transferring him to Colombo, but want to wait a few days to see how he manages."

Mr. Chandradasa, who is 61, has a history of heart problems, has been hospitalized several times since he came to Mercy Home on July 19, 2005, and recently underwent open-heart surgery in Colombo. Like his nickname-sake, Mohandas Gandhi, Mr. Chandradasa is a peace-loving man who brings much joy to the people around him.

Please join us in praying for his well-being, both physical and mental.

We are going to email a letter to Grace with best wishes for Mr. Gandhi to be read to him in the hospital. If you would like to have your comments included in the letter, then please email them to info@you-shall-love.org as soon as possible. The letter will be emailed to Grace at 5:00 p.m. (PDT) on Friday, Oct. 27 (tomorrow night).

Thank you.
